Jennifer Shipley: New Zealand universities are fine universities and offer many opportunities which you can choose from. It is a young country, compared to China 南宫体育. And, it's also a very creative country, very entrepreneurial, and very innovative, and encourages students to think, as well as scholars. So thinking forward as well as scholarship and acquiring knowledge. So if you would study in New Zealand, there are many opportunities to develop your learning further. But it's also a very beautiful place to come to study, and it's safe and interesting, and New Zealanders would rank.

Jennifer Shipley: I think it's wonderful that you are studying foreign affairs. Because we just live in one world, so we must focus on what we can agree on, not what divides us 南宫体育. .

Jennifer Shipley: So about Foreign Affairs students, I would encourage you to look back toward your future. And what I mean by that is we can learn much from our history, but we need your generation to again think about how to deal with relationships of going forward, and it's always been a challenge, and it will remain a challenge 南宫体育. But again I want to encourage you to think about what you can agree on, not what you disagree with. Because that's where you can get a meeting of minds, that value and respect differences, but can make progress to it. .

提问：Good evening, Ms Shipley. Nowadays many students are interested in studying abroad, including New Zealand. We often feel very puzzled at what to do and where to go outside the school. My question for you is would you have any suggestions or recommendations for the students who are going to study in New Zealand on what places to go or visit or what extracurricular activities they should participate in order to better understand the local culture or get better involved in the social life and campus life? Thank you.

Jennifer Shipley: Well, firstly we have a vibrant community of Asian people who live in New Zealand. About 8 percent of New Zealand's population comes from the oriental, one part or another. And so you'll find something that is very familiar.

Jennifer Shipley: You'll also have a chance to meet many people from the Pacific. And as you know, the Pacific is a huge and vast ocean, and there are two things that are important to you as Foreign Affairs students. And the first of it is that much of the Pacific is confronted with climate change and many of the island states are affected. So It's a very interesting but culturally diverse, very significantly impacted area. We have yet to decide whether we move those all civilizations or whether we can adapt or mitigate, so that is, I know that is true everywhere. But those are small distinct populations who are facing a million instances, a very uncertain future.

Jennifer Shipley: And the second point, as you know it's highly interested. China reserves rising influence in the Pacific. But for Foreign Affairs students, it's a rich and driven space, because it actually shows the dynamic nature of global relationships that is literally alive today. It's a very important space that you could study and observe from a New Zealand perspective, looking north into the Pacific, but in a nation that has an open mind. New Zealand is a country where we have our own foreign policy. It's an independent foreign policy, and it tries to be inclusive, even though, obviously, we have a story of loving our democracy; it's an important nation because we seek balance.

Jennifer Shipley: And the last thing, I think all New Zealanders welcome international visitors. But as an extracurricular issue at understanding our Maori people, you will find enormous commonality with some of China's aspects. It's an old culture, and it values many of the symbols that I see in the older oriental thinking. I'm also their fan. They are voyagers and I'm not afraid to go over the horizon, and I think there's an aspect of New Zealand, as a student, you'll find open conversations about what is possible and all New Zealanders who arrived here have to go over the horizon, and you'll find similarities. So I guess we are a young country with many interesting aspects that are still relevant to a future links of your generation. And for the Pacific environment, it's like China in a tiny pot, with mountains and seas, rivers, and cities and countryside in close proximity, and you'll have lots of fun skiing and enjoying the water, which is very pure and clean. It's a loving environment to come and be able to live up.
